On Saturday, January 16, 2021, I am honored to conduct a keynote presentation for the AAOSH 2021 \u201cHot Topics\u201d event. In this 20-minute presentation, my goal is to change your life in a powerful and meaningful way. My attempt to achieve the unachievable, is to convey a message that man-made, processed, nutrient-deficient, and toxic foods (yes toxic, or \u2018noxious,\u2019 if you\u2019re a purist) are driving almost every major chronic disease with which you are aware. Yes, heart disease, strokes, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, obesity, Alzheimer\u2019s disease, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), even autoimmune disorders, are all driven by processed foods. Oh, we must not leave out dental caries, dental abscesses, narrowed dental arches, and malocclusion, these too are all driven by processed foods. How is this connection possible? Two major concepts: Nutrient-deficiency and toxicity.<\/p>\n

The correlations to diet are extraordinary, but now with evidence and research, are without question, predictable. Is the biologic, pathophysiologic mechanisms of processed foods driving such disease? With my decades worth of research and investigation, I will only be able to start the conversation on January 16th.<\/p>\n

I joined AAOSH to impart knowledge, but more importantly to gain knowledge. AAOSH is on the cutting-edge of the deeply interwoven relationship between dental and systemic health. AAOSH is a forward-thinking organization, open to exploring what allopathic medicine may currently ignore. It is time that we, collectively, adopt broad-based ancestral health concepts and principles regarding diet, even if it is against everything you were taught conventionally. In much the same way, OralDNA\u00ae<\/sup> Labs has brought lab-based testing into dental practices, even when lab testing as a diagnostic tool is rarely taught in dental and dental hygiene education programs.<\/p>\n

This approach may rescue relationships with our patients, family, and friends. Practicing as true doctors, a Latin term that translates to \u2018teacher,\u2019 the result will be healthier and happier lives, more life in those years, with less pain, suffering, and disability. The faces of healthy and happy patients and family will emerge being wider, brighter, and more beautiful, natural smiles, all chock full of gratitude.<\/p>\n
